The back cover contains a list of the songs on the CD track as well as other information about the company who made it, copyright notices, the distributors name, where the physical CD and case were made as well as where the music was made. A bar code is also found on the back cover.
Spine:
. Title
. Artists name
. Record company
. Source code
On both sides of the digipaks contains the title of the album and sometimes the artist who made the song as well or is credited with the song. It also displays the source code so a certain digipak is easy to find and it can also display the record company.
Inside/ internal panels:
. Small Booklet containing information about the songs, artists with images.
. CD
A small booklet is usually found inside the front cover of the digipak. It usually contains important information about the music and the songs in the CD track. It can also contain information about the artist, the company who made the songs and the distributors. Images related to the music are also frequently displayed in digipak booklets.
Digipak Nets:
This digipak net clearly shows each individual part that makes up a digipak. It also shows how a digipak is created.
One advantage of this particular digipak design template is that it is clearly labelled, showing each section of the digipak. It also contains different colour coded lines showing safety margins etc. One disadvantage of this digipak is that one square is not labelled at all.
Retailers:
Today, less and less people are buying digipak disks as the result of the rise of digital downloads in the music industry. Although digipaks are great if people want to collect physical copies of their music however the easiness and cheapness of digital downloads is dominating the industry at the present moment. Before, it would be extremely easy to go out and buy digipaks in a high street for example, however due to the decline in demand for digipaks, supply has dropped dramatically to the point where it would be much easier to buy a digipak online. With the rise of smartphones containing apps and other digital devices in order to store music on it, people have resorted to listening in this way, rather than having to insert a CD into a CD player. It is much easier and more convenient to listen to music on people's phones.
Analysing Digipaks
This spine of this digipak is clear and easy to read. It's white writing stands out perfectly against a black background. In terms of information, the spine contains the title of the digipak "Royal Blood", its production company and its logo at the very bottom of the spine. The colour black links themes of darkness and unhappiness.
This digipak clearly displays the title and it's use of the colour red is dominating the entire outside covers of the digipak. The genre of this musical digipak could possibly be identified by the way the front and back covers are designed. The title of each song on the back cover also gives a great indication on what style of song it is.
This digipak is coloured in orange with yellow to reflect on the songs titled in the CD disk. It's image of flowers on the left hand side of the front cover links it to love and romance. Dark colours were not chosen as these colours do not reflect anything about the digipaks songs. The way in which this digipak is represented suggests that they are targeting people who are interested in listening to cheerful and upbeat tunes, mainly reflected by the strong choice of yellow as a background colour and images of flowers and birds being placed throughout every segment of the digipak.
The back cover lists all songs in the CD. It's background colour is a dark gold, matching the magical aspect of these songs which were written to be put into Super Mario Galaxy. The song titles clearly stand out as all writing is written in white. They are all neatly listed and are easy to read. These songs are also written in other languages too. The genre of this digipak can be easily identifiable as that of a video game due to its title and song choices. At the bottom of this particular back cover of this digipak, it clearly displays the production company and distributor of this digipak and the music contained inside of the CD.
